        2nd Army: No troop withdrawals

        There will not be any immediate troop withdrawal from the disputed area around Preah Vihear temple, regardless of the decision due today from the International Court of Justice, Army Region 2 spokesman Prawit Hukaew said on Monday.

        Col Prawit commented ahead of the International Court of Justice’s scheduled announcement at the Peace Palace in The Hague, due to start at 3pm Thailand time.

        The ICJ will rule on Cambodia’s request that it order Thai troops withdrawn from the disputed area around the ancient temple immediately and unconditionally.

        “No matter what the ICJ’s ruling is, troops of Army Region 2 will remain in the area [around Preah Vihear] to protect the land and sovereignty of our country.

        “The army will wait for instructions from Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha [the national army chief],” the spokesman said.

        He said if the court ruled in favour of Cambodia and the Cambodian army attacked the Thai side, the Thai army would be ready to retaliate.

        “The number of Thai troops in the area is adequate to deal with any situation that might occur along the Thai-Cambodian border,” Col Prawit added.

          Man har idag i någon domstol i Europa beslutat att inga soldater från någon part ska vistas på tempelområdet.

            Verkar var svårt för thailand och kambodja att följa domstolens beslut. Vill man inte följa det lagliga beslutet? mycket konstigt att man är obstinata men man vill tydligen inte följa internationell lag. Mycket underligt i med tanke på hur de annars följer lagarna till punkt ock pricka i dessa länder i sydostasien. Varför respekteras inte internationella domstolar? Har man ingen rädsla eller fruktan i detta fall när domstol i Haag fattar beslut? Måste beslut fattas i sydostasien för att de ska respekteras? I så fall mycket underligt, så stora är dessa länder inte i värlsdsligt perspektiv i nuläget. Utan att verka vara en kolonialistpamp så tycker jag att dessa två länder borde dessa länder foga sig i LAGEN. Det är sagt att alla soldater ska dras bor från heligt område. Andligheten är mycket större, det är helt klart. Varför respekterar man inte buddismen i dessa två länder som påstår sig vara buddistiska? Karmat blir bara sämre och sämre.

              Försök berätta för en thai att han/hon gör fel eller att det blir bättre om man göra så här i stället……då tittar de bara på dig och så fortsätter de göra som tidigare, eller så får du svaret -this is Thailand!

              Thai kommer aldrig att rätta sig efter någon annan så länge “lose face” traditionen finns kvar.
