        “Snabbskrift” variant av thailändska siffror som kallas “หางเลข” (svanssiffror). Adolf Bastian skrev 1868 om dessa “hong-lek” som han kallar dem:

        “When used in calculations, the tua-lek (full-bodied numerals) are shortened to the hong-lek (the tail of the numerals), in which nothing remains of the full body (tua) but the extreme lines, drawn in different directions (Bastian 1868:70).”

        Dock var nog bruket av denna slags siffrorna på nedgång redan då och 1891 kan man läsa en artikel i Wachirayanwiset om deras allt sällsyntare bruk.
