Svininfluensa, vaccinering i Thailand

Kan man vaccinera sig mot svininfluensan i Thailand? Phuket? Jag fick inte komma till här hemma innan jag reste. Ett av världens rikaste länder kunde inte ge mig den hjälpen efter att jag har betalt världens högsta skatter under hela mitt yrkesliv. Kan fattiga Thailand hjälpa mig?

Om jag inte är fel underrättad kommer de första doserna till Thailand först i december och dessutom har inte Thailand beställt doser i antal för för massvaccinering som jag läst. Jag hörde mig för på Hua Hin Hospital i söndags och de skulle inte få särdeles stor tilldelning som det verkar.

Möjligen kan det gå snabbare via något av de dyrare privatsjukhusen som Bumrungrag i Bangkok eller något av Bangkok Hospital Groups sjukhus.

Det kommer att dröja länge innan massvaccinering kan köra igång om det någonsin gör det.
Dom har tydligen allvarliga produktionsproblem…
Två miljoner doser kommer att importeras från frankrike , leverans i December & Januari.

The Government Pharmaceutical Organisation decided yesterday to postpone the testing of a type-A (H1N1) influenza vaccine on humans to an indefinite date after researchers failed to stabilise the amount of vaccine that could boost immunity in animals, GPO’s board chairperson, Dr Vichai Chokewiwat said. “The team of researchers followed recommendations from the World Health Organisation and the Russian scientists who transferred technology to us – but it did not work,” he said.

Vichai said researchers had stored the vaccine virus at a temperature of -20Celsius but the vaccine virus had not stabilised enough to boost immunity in test animals.

“We are now studying the cause of this unprecedented event and we have to understand that this is a scientific work, so any problem can happen unexpectedly,” he said.

Initially, the first human trials in 24 volunteers were scheduled to start on September 5, were rescheduled to September 21, September 24, October 5, and now to some future time.

“We don’t want to mark a timeline any more as postponements caused by unexpected incidents might happen again and again,” he said.

Vichai said the GPO had informed volunteers about the change in plans, saying the delay in testing on humans would not affect public confidence over development of the vaccine.

He said the GPO had prepared a second plan to boost people’s immunity against the new flu virus by ordering 2 million doses of inactivated vaccine from France. The amount would be enough to protect 4 per cent of the population. The first batches are expected to arrive by December.

Vichai said the GPO is consulting and working closely with independent experts from the Philippines and Australia to monitor the process of vaccine development.

A budget of Bt300-million is needed to build a new plant to produce vaccine for the type-A(H1N1) flu virus, Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GP0) pres?ident Wichai Chokewiwat said yesterday.

Plans for a plant at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thon Buri has been scrapped because of problems with a five-year lease, he said, adding the new plant would be built in Saraburi’s Kaeng Khoi district.

GPO research into the vaccine was now 90 per cent towards its goal and initial pro?duction could begin by year’s end, he said.

Two million doses of “live vaccine” will be imported,half to be received on December 3 and the remainder by January 3.

He said the GPO was studying how the vaccine could survive at temperatures higher than 2-8 degrees Celsius for longer than one year, as it would extend the vac?cine life and save costs.

Meanwhile, a researcher said work on a “dead vaccine” by the National Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (Biotec) was behind schedule due to the inadequacy of up-to-standard laborato?ries and production of guinea pigs. The dead vaccine may be needed to cope with a second possible influenza outbreak.

“We don’t yet have good-enough and clean-enough laboratories. Also we don’t have enough guinea pigs,” said Prasit Phalitpholkarnphim, deputy director of the Thailand National Science and Technology Development Agency.

“What we can rely on now to cope with an outbreak is the use of Oseltamivir in storage. But sufficient local industrial pro?duction of dead vaccine is not yet possible should there be a second outbreak,” he said.

Efter att frugan, svärmor och jag fick problem med magen och dom vägrat ta min patentmedecin ( 6 koltabletter ett stort glas wiskey och två stora chang) blev jag bra på en halvtimme medans dom var fortfarande sjuka dagen efter så jag fick skjutsa dom till sjukhuset och där fanns en skylt att dom hade 50 doser influensavaxin kvar till ett pris av 700 bath, tog dock inte vaxinet tror det finns de som behöver det bättre, frugan skitarg du måste vaxinera dig för du är farang och så gammal så du behöver det. Har dock inte ännu vaxinerat mig och vet inte om jag ska.

Det var antagligen vaccin mot den gamla vanliga influensan .. Nått annat finns inte i Thailand om det inte har blivit privatimporterat.

Det tror jag med. När jag frågade på Hua Hin Hospital sa de att visst har den vaccin och trots att jag frågade flera gånger om det verkligen var vaccin mot H1N1 fick jag jakande svar ända tills jag ritade en bild på en gris som hade snuva. Då först medgav de att det rörde sig om vaccin mot en annan stam.
